The Clark Gable Foundation
Cadiz, Ohio

In 1983 on February 1 a radio D.J. called the local Post Office and asked the Post Master if he knew whose birthday it was.
The post master did not know but was informed that it was Cadiz's own native son:
Clark Gable.
The following year a local woman's club, DISTAFF, organized the first annual
'Clark Gable Birthday Celebration'
The Celebration was held February 1, 1985 in Cadiz, Ohio

The History of the Foundation
In 1984 three local business met, informally, and discussed their dream which we now have the pleasure of sharing
The Clark Gable Foundation
A monument was erected on February 1, 1986 with media attention the monument was dedicated.
Since the Foundation has been formed fans of Gable have had the pleasure attend his hometown and in addition to roaming the streets he once called home, they can also meet some of the cast members and hear their stories of what it was like to work with Clark Gable in Hollywood
If you're really lucky you may hear a couple tales from someone locally who has a story of Clark's early days

Some of the special quests in the past have included
Fred Crane, who played Brent Tarleton in Gone With the Wind. His wife Anita was also on hand.
Cammie King has made more than one appearance at the Celebrations as well as Patrick Curtis.
Butterfly McQueen graced the streets of Cadiz before her sad departure
David O. Selznick's son, Daniel Selznick has attended past events
In 1991 Clark Gable's son John Clark Gable along with his step sister Joan Sprekels were special quests. John Clark later returned in 2001 to mark the 100th Birthday of his father.
Ann Rutherford and Rand Brooks both from the Surviving Gone With the Wind cast have attended as well.
